All Most Giving-up

please apologise as i have not updated my blog for quite sometime..

Week43 (my trainers)
my current trainers- cloudsurfer is wearing out fast on the outer sole.. searched for new pair was unsuccessful.. new balance fitted well but the cushioning were not even on both ankle.. ended this week with 26.7k mileage..

Week44 (busy)
i was busy this week and only manage to clock 13.3k mileage..

Week45 (newton)
finally got me self the pair of trainers i was looking for.. at RM410 (after discount), this sir isacc-newton trainers seems a fair bargain.. its the cheapest trainers i have purchased.. i was adjusting to the shoe, hence manage 14.1k mileage..

Week46 (no show)
i was unable to do my PBIM'11 this year as i was in a car accident this week.. its not that i could not run, its just the mood was not there.. ended this week with zilch mileage :(

Week47 (pick-up)
i began to pick-up myself and started training.. was not sure i had it in me.. hopefully i can gain some confidence after some hard weeks.. manage to complete 13k mileage..

Week48 (back)
back on my toes and running as usual.. manage to put up concentration back on my trainings.. piled-up 28.6k mileage this week..

Did 39.6k Mileage for Week42 :-)

what was i thinking when i signed up for pbim'11?

the third poke was the weirdest of all places where my blood were taken..

pbim'11 is getting closer and closer by the day.. as usual, i am getting more anxious too.. why not.. i am hoping for my best ever PB in halfmarathon.. hehe..

last week, week42, i did a wooping total of 39.6k mileage.. its pretty high if you ask me.. highest ever in my two (2) years of running.. that is why i am going slow this week, week43.. do not want to injure myself.. with pbim'11 less then 3 weeks away..

did a blood test last week @ BP Lab Kuantan.. i have yet to get the results.. will share the results once i have it..

Getting Closer to PBIM'11

me after a 13k run..

we are now in week42 and less than 4week before pbim'11.. i am almost in panic mode now.. so near and yet i still not confident of doing a PB.. hmm.. lets just hope my weekly target will account for some good timing..

some facts on my training up to week42.. 10.2k/week average.. 428k mileage completed.. done 206k mileage on my new pair of On CloudSurfer.. completed two (2) half marathons.. on a 24k/week training plan..

Running with my Ipod Nano Again

i have not been training these few days due to work commitments.. somehow i know i will still get my 24k/week training cramped into this week.. i sure do feel confident i can..

before my run today, i looked for my ipod nano.. managed to locate my ipod and downloaded 70 songs into it.. took me a few hours to get the songs from the web.. then i had to upgrade my itunes as i have not been using it for ages!! finally got my ipod ready at around noon time.. since it was way pass noon, i had to do my run after lunch.. had lunch at around 1.30pm and started running at 5pm.. ran 14k in 1hr 41mins.. a pretty long run, i must say.. with a pace of 7.21k/min.. sure feels gud after my run today.. only that i felt a sharp pain in my left ankle @ 4k.. somehow, after a some massage and applying pressure on my ankle, the pain was gone @6k.. why? hmm..

so, after downloading my training into my polar pro trainer, i noticed my run today was mostly at moderate heart rate.. maybe its the ipod causing me to run slow..

PBIM in 50days; Week40

pbim is getting nearer.. less than 50days.. i am still worried that i have not put enough training even though i know that my training this year is harder than last year.. i know i could have done better.. i know i could have put more time and mileage on my training.. well, thats all in the past.. the present is i will continue to train.. get my 25k/week mileage..

Towards a Full Recovery; Week40

thanks to zul for this yet another wonderful pic.. errrr, have to keep pushing..

its hard to self motivate and continue training.. this is when you have to dig deep and look into you inner self.. hopefully there is some reserves left for you to go on pushing.. thats what yesterday training felt.. i could have easily stopped at 8k.. somehow i feel that i had to keep pushing.. so, despite a slow run, i did manage to get 11k yesterday and complete my 24k/week goal.. it sure felt good and also sore everywhere:-) but then again i know that its worth every sweat.. worth every effort.. a stronger me in some way..

Slowly but Surely; Week40

i have started training this week after a long week sickness (poisoning).. it is hard to train after resting so long this lazy legs.. nevertheless, i have to keep on the spirit i have built a couple of weeks ago.. i really want to better my hm time during pbim'11.. three day to end this week and i have 11k to complete my 24k/week run..

Listen to Your Body, Week38

my blood test results.. some highs and a low..

this is the week i didnt listen to my body and i got terribly ill.. started to feel week and not myself midweek.. skipped a few lunch breaks and my body fell ill before weekend.. had a terrible sore throat for the whole week.. and then the final blow.. a terrible continuous headache + continuous nausea (not to mention the vomittings) + high fever (38++).. im recuperating now and also guilty for not listening to my body enough..

here what i think went wrong and to do better next time:
1. skipping lunch.. never skip a major meal
2. taking supplements.. make sure they are still good to eat
3. eating junk.. opt for more balance meals

My PBIM'11 Target

since completing pbim'10 i have gone on running and pbim'11 will be my final half marathon and third this 2011.. i do really pray i will do justice to myself by doing a pb.. even a minute better than last years pbim'10 will do great.. i have been consistent since week28.. now at week37 i am breaking new pb's every other week.. thats a sign my training going well.. now its 8weeks to pbim'11.. i have to stick with my training plan..

mileage up till today vs last year same period: 343k vs 312k
current avg mileage per week vs last year same period: 9.3k vs 8.5k

A day @ Taman Gelora

how do i look after a 10k run on a friday morning?

it was a pit stop at kuantan and decided i had to run @ taman gelora.. simply had to with no particular reason.. could not quite remember when was i last here.. woke up around 630am and started running at around 705am.. i do not have any specific target.. only wanted to complete my 24k/week.. running by the beach does have its advantages.. eg.. cooler than other running spots, mostly windy.. guess what? i did another PB for 10k!! amazing!!

Another 24km/week for Week33

yeay! last week achieved another 24km/week of training.. that makes it two weeks in a row of 24km/week.. will try to achieve the same distance again for week34 before going into week35.. it is most likely i would not be able to do 24km/week for week35 since its raya week..

my average training distance per week is currently at 8.2km/week compared to last year 8.5km/week for the same period.. my total training distance for 2011 is at 270km..

from this week onwards until end year will be doing another 280km to atleast achieve the same training distance as last year, 2010.. hope to continue this not so easy feat..

Yet Another 10k PB!! Yahoo!

was on my weekly runs yesterday.. was on my 7k lap when i decided to go for an easy 10k.. could have ran faster but i didnt want to exert to much energy since i was fasting.. anything can go wrong if your last fluid intake was 10hrs earlier.. so you can say it was an easy 10k even though not that easy laa.. finally downloaded my training data from my polar watch into the laptop today.. wow, i better my previous PB in 10k by almost 4mins!! now lets maintain training and see the results in PBIM'11!!

Yeay! Something to Celebrate

finally i have achieved 24k/week on week32 this year.. now its up to me to keep up the training and be consistent in my training plans.. the combination for a 24k/week trainings can be as follows:
1. 10 + 10 + 4 = 24k
2. 9 + 8 + 7 = 24k
3. 8 + 8 + 8 = 24k

summary of thing before i forget:
1. changed my pair of trainers (running shoe) to ON CloudSurfer on week32
2. my Supernova Glide2 has clocked 447.7k
3. register for malakoff 12k run

Weekly Mileage Goal in Sight

it has been a hard training during this ramadhan/ fasting month.. my first training was a 9k before doing an 8k.. now, im short of 7k short of my weekly goal 24k/week.. hope fully today i will be able to do an 8k before iftar..

focusing on an aim weekly sets the mood right during my training.. gives me a sense of direction to dig deep.. even though i have yet to really dig deep during trainings.. when im out of focus during training, i think the following:-

1. i want to do better for pbim'11
2. i want to see results of better hm timing
3. the faster i reach my weekly goal, the faster i can improve as a runner

Training & Fasting

ain't easy running with an empty stomach..

This is my second year of training during Ramadhan/ Fasting month.. last year i ended up zilch.. no training what so ever.. now this year, i have put some training.. not much though but enough to get myself going.. i will continue training and hopefully get at least 24k/week set.. i have been frequently changing my weekly training target :-P hope fully this target will last longer.. i have read blogs from other runners and saw them do bike riding too.. maybe something i need to consider..

Post Standard Charted Marathon 2011

just right after SCMKL'11

its been hard finding time to train.. somehow i was able to dig deep to finally get my training back.. did a 10k last week and have done 6k thus far this week.. hope i can achieve 12k by the end of this week.. lets not be to ambitious and target a minimum of 10k/week..

while doing my 6k run today, i did not notice my pace until i uploaded the data from my polar to my pc.. to my amazement, today's 6k is my PB!! yeay!! 6k in 32mins with 5.34mins/km pace!! actually i did not set any target.. just want to add mileage to my weekly runs.. well, its some good news at least.. something to get me motivated before Ramadhan month..

right now, i am searching for road bike to alternate between my runs.. this feet of mine needs to train other muscle and rest.. so, my options are limited as the nearest town is somewhat 2hrs drive from here.. looking for a reasonable size48 road bike please... anyone?

Standard Charted KL Marathon Part 2

since finishing my first hm, i have yet to set a challenging goal which would push me to my limits.. hmm.. what will it be? what is within my reach? what would it cost? erm, after much deep thought, i will try to better my previous hm personal best.. the previous timing was 2h56m.. now i will do a 2h45m for this pbim'11..

next would be my intermediate goal.. which is to clock 15k/week at least.. now, where are my running shoe?!!

its been a while since i updated this blog of mine.. a lot have happen since.. now i guess is the right time for me to re-start this adrenalin that i have long since lost.. let me put it this way, i need to keep on running while i still can.. why walk if you can run right? hehe..

SCKLM (Standard Charted KL Marathon) is this week.. i had no training since ENR in April'11.. gosh, two (2) months and i stood still.. hmm, well that gonna change from this day onwards..

Energiser Night Race; 16April'11- 21km

Race Objective

this is my second half marathon in my life.. nothing much is expected from the race.. not going to set a personnel best.. to complete the race and not get injured in the process..

Background
drove all the way from Kerteh in the morning.. arrived at bkt jalil around 1pm.. after lunch with my sis and some rest, drove to nilai around 430pm and reached nilai hotel 630pm.. by the time i was at sepang international circuit (SIC) it was 7pm.. parked my car some where near the main grand terrace entrance.. change clothes at the car park.. was at the booths around 730pm.. waited for bum at the booth and had to start without him.. was at the pit lane around 755pm.. trying to figure out were the starting line was.. by the time i know where it was, i was on the wrong side of the fence!! damn!! the 21k runners started running and i was running the opposite direction to get to the starting line.. after much effort pushing and ‘excuse me’ here and there, i got to the line 10mins later.. letih..

First 10k
the course was running on the outer road of SIC.. some runners were give headlamps by energizer.. i did not have mine as the organisers have given them all out and none left for most other runners.. running in the dark has its own set of challenges.. my focus was to make sure my proper footing on every stride.. don’t want to end up injured very early into the race.. some runners wore the headlamps backwards.. glaring and uncomfortable to me.. have to put up with the nuisance as i know its not intentional.. consumed one (1) gel at the water station.. completed my first 10k in 1hr18min.. paced was 7.8min/km..

Next 5k+
the course was a loop inside the SIC track.. conserved my energy by going slow and observe the cource elevation.. the track is really wide.. no incoming cars like some races.. (of course lah..) very2 dark.. only one water station was provided towards the end of the course.. drank a coupe cups of gatorade at the water station.. completed my 15k in 2hr11min.. paced was 8.45min/km..

Last 5k+
the last lap around SIC track was a very slow one.. walked from 16k until 21k.. why? b’coz i want to ensure i have sufficient energy for my drive back Kerteh that night.. luckily there was one chap (same hometown with me and currently resides in kinrara) who was with me throughout the final lap.. chat and chat until we crossed the finish line.. had another 1 (one) gel once i felt muscle pull on my right hamstring during on of the hill climbs.. completed my 21k in 3hr06min.. paced was 8.85min/km..

Final Feeling
something about running at nite intrigues me.. the moon that night was amazing.. full in shape and bright.. the stars were twinkling in the clear black sky.. want to do this again next year.. sepang ohhh sepang..

Note: most people say the organizer was at fault for the short falls during the event.. i wont want to add to that b’coz i loved it.. love the view of the sky that nite.. really amazing..

Back Training and Preparing for Energizer Night Run

i have not been feeling like myself lately.. the training intensity too was not there.. nonetheless, i still did my weekly runs (with some hiccups).. the following are my mileage until this posting:

Week 1- 8.3k
Week 2- 10.7k
Week 3- 10.2k
Week 4- 11k
Week 5- 20.3k
Week 6- 13.3k
Week 7- 11.1k
Week 8- ZERO
Week 9- ZERO
Week 10- 4.4k
Week 11- 20.5k
TOTAL: 109.8k (last year same period: 160.2k)

This week was a good one as i trained 3times and got back to training after a 2week laps.. got things in motion at least.. hehe.. it was quite inspiring looking others train @ KLCC park.. could only do 6laps for the time being (due to other commitments).. hope i to do a 10laps there someday.. before i forget, i saw someone wearing a pair of white Newton footwear.. looked great.. i am really considering a pair of Newtons once this Supernova Glide2 wears off (still have 220k remaining on them)..

Energizer Night Race is just 3week away.. hopefully i get through it with no injuries despite the lack of training uh.. Let me see, what will i plan for this remaining 3week..
